Salem Produce was founded in 1973 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, by John Thompson as a tomato packing company. Over the years, the business evolved to meet the changing needs of the food distribution industry, expanding into trucking and freight brokerage services for both large and small grocery retailers and foodservice customers.

In 2021, ownership of Salem Produce transitioned to Mark Tilley, who first joined the company in 1993 as a truck driver. Having grown with the organization over nearly three decades, Mark now serves as President, continuing Salem Produce’s tradition of dependable service while guiding the company toward new opportunities for growth.

Today, Salem Produce specializes in less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation and freight brokerage services, with a strong focus on freight movement between Florida and New Jersey and the Charlotte metropolitan region. Built on decades of industry experience and a commitment to customer service, Salem Produce remains dedicated to providing reliable logistics solutions while continually exploring new ventures and expanding its capabilities.
